Mariana has a background in cultural studies and digital humanities, specialising in the digital management of cultural heritage, with a long-standing focus on the field of intangible heritage. She holds an MSc in Digital Humanities from the Dept. of Computer Science in KU Leuven, an MA in Curation and History of Art, and a BA in Art Sciences from the School of Fine Arts, University of Ioannina. She is currently pursuing a PhD in the Intelligent Interaction Research Group at the University of the Aegean and is a staff member at the Hellenic Open University. At Web2Learn she applies her skills in data analytics, information visualisation and computational methods at the intersection of humanities and other disciplines. Mariana is also the co-founder of the Biennale of Western Balkans, promoting intangible heritage and cross-border cooperation in the Balkans. She has extensive experience in research projects related to digital heritage infrastructures, semantic technologies, participatory design and open science.
