Description

European Commission’s “Study on the Impact of ICT and New Media on Language Learning” was carried out between June 2008 and May 2009 by an international research team. The study had been awarded following a call for tenders by the Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA 2007/09). The international research team was assembled by Ellinogermaniki Agogi.

The main objectives of the study were to:

● assess the current situation concerning the use of ICT and new media for language learning and teaching, mainly beyond school and university in the learner’s working life and/or personal life;

● to investigate any possible future trends in this area, and
● to explore whether the motivation to learn languages can be enhanced through the use of ICT-supported learning and new media.

The study adopted an inclusive approach and covered formal, non-formal and informal language learning.
