This paper expands current understanding of transcribathons as participatory actions by analysing 15 selected European transcription projects from a citizen science perspective. The paper was written by Katerina Zourou and Mariana Ziku and was released as part of the collective publication “Participatory transcription projects in Museums, Archives and Libraries” organised by the European Citizen Science Association and the Natural History Museum of Berlin.
