Description

The BlockAdemiC project aimed at creating a digital distributed security system for the certification and verification of qualifications and skills in the field of higher education and lifelong learning. By leveraging the potential of blockchain-based technology, the project resulted in the creation of an inviolable educational passport that ensures interoperability of the learning tools through international standards

The proposed ‘training passport’ will serve to record educational activities, diplomas and certifications. Smart contracts will be developed to automatically process transactions using education tokens and transfer the latter to the learner’s personal wallets if the learning objectives that were set in advance are met. Due to the immutability of the records, trainees will be able to demonstrate to third parties their degree of involvement in any educational activity and evaluate the knowledge and skills they have acquired.

Key project outcomes

● Identification of a framework for the accreditation of learning activities.
● Technical and functional specifications and system architecture.
●Blockchain-based digital system for the certification and verification of qualifications acquired in formal educational contexts.

Partnership

● Information Technologies Institute (ITI)/ Centre of Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH)- coordinator
● Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
● Yummy Wallet
● Web2Learn
