Goals of AirLimnos+

Students as citizen scientists

Students take an active role in exploring and understanding air pollution.

Through hands-on workshops, they:

• discussed the causes and effects of air pollution
• explored environmental challenges in their area
• proposed ideas and local solutions
• learned how air quality sensors work and why monitoring matters

The goal was not only to introduce students to environmental monitoring tools, but also to empower them to participate, express concerns, and become active voices in their communities.

Community engagement

AirLimnos collaborates with schools as well as local community spaces, including initiatives such as robotics clubs and nautical clubs.

Our goal is to connect environmental monitoring with everyday community life and encourage participation beyond the classroom.

In areas such as Lemnos – a remote island in the Aegean Sea – the project also explored low-cost DIY sensor approaches, showing that citizen science can thrive even in geographically remote or underserved communities.
