The European BOLD project bridges the gap between students’ university education and their social action, strengthening the participation of future teachers in society and promoting active citizenship. It aims to promote cooperation between academic institutions and civil society organizations, supporting mutual collaboration and the participation of students—future teachers—in joint activities.
The goal of the project is to develop professional skills in future teachers of various specialties, based on two basic principles: firstly, active citizenship and activism for the creation of a sustainable linguistic and cultural future, and secondly, the development of linguistic and cultural skills for social activism.
Web2Learn, in collaboration with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Association of the Deaf of Northern Greece, and the Sivitanidios Public School of Arts and Professions, will implement social actions of the BOLD project in Athens and Thessaloniki during the spring semester of 2025.
The main objective of the action is to develop knowledge and skills in students studying foreign languages in terms of implementing participatory and innovative actions that promote multilingualism and interculturalism. Moving beyond traditional teaching methods and perceptions of the social role of education, the series of actions in the project aims to motivate students to design and implement social actions, putting multilingualism at the service of a social group.
Through these actions, students will become familiar with innovative digital tools and initiatives (e.g., online sprints, hackathons) that they can incorporate into their educational activities as future teachers.
Web2Learn will implement social actions of the BOLD project in Athens and Thessaloniki during the spring semester of 2025. The actions will include four practical, public benefit initiatives, in which students and future teachers will collaborate with vulnerable groups to co-create innovative solutions that enhance linguistic and cultural diversity and solidarity.
