2020 events

November 2020-January 2021:  consultation for 2 Caribbean universities, the University of West Indies, Jamaica, and Universidad Central de Las Villas, Cuba. Staff upskilling and digital transformation of two university degrees.

December 10: presentation at the European University Association webinar “University approaches to citizen science in the transition to Open Science”. Short talk “Academia permeating society through Citizen Science: Use cases of engagement in Higher Education” (programme).

November 12-13: host of two hackathons within DigiEduHack annual event: one for teachers of languages for specific purposes (Catapult Challenge) and one for university students of languages aiming to upskill them on citizen science (INOS Challenge).

October 24: Keynote talk “Digital activism during covid-19 and its potential for language learning”, 2nd Online Forum on Innovations in foreign language teaching, Moscow, Lomonosov Moscow State University. Website in Russian.

July 20-August 10: online specialisation course offered at 2 Caribbean universities, the University of West Indies, Jamaica, and Universidad Central de Las Villas, Cuba. Details.

June 6: “Language learning as agency for a social purpose: examples from the pandemic”: talk by Katerina Zourou at JALTCALL conference (online). Slides and abstract

May 4: “Some examples of how the pandemic is affecting education and ways forward”: talk  at the webinar “Challenges for Higher Education in the era of Covid19″. Slides. Recording available online 

April 24-26: EUvsVirus hackathon. Katerina acting as mentor for 6 teams competing for the Challenge “Education and remote working”. Blog post also available.
